AAA 400 Drive for Autism
Dover International Speedway
By Richard Tix
One more weekend and one more Sprint Cup race until I am in Charlotte for the All Star Race. It will be my first ASR and first trip to Charlotte Motor Speedway so I am looking forward to it! If you're in Charlotte look out for the Behind the Wall Shirt and hat.
Enough about next weekend, though. This weekend we head to Dover International Speedway where Jimmie Johnson has had a strangle hold on the Spring race. He has won the last two Spring races and three of the last four.
Dover is one of my favorite track's on the schedule because of its unique layout and structure, but the last few years it has lacked the excitement that most of us crave. JJ dominating hasn't helped Dover's case, but maybe the new aero package can bring some life back into the Speedway? Only time will tell if we can start heading the right direction at Dover but the first step might just be beating Jimmie Johnson.

**This section is just a quick look at some of Cup drivers latest finishes. This is not a tool for fantasy purposes and NBTW only is looking at end results. No deep statistic's are involved, but rather it is just a quick way to get ready for the race and get caught up on who has finished well at each track**
The Good
- Jimmie Johnson- Dover and JJ is like peanut better and jelly, presents on Christmas, and Kevin Harvick and PIR. JJ has 10 career wins at Dover including three in the last five stops here.
- Kevin Harvick- Harvick has seven top 10's (including a win) in the last ten Dover races. Last year he had a runner up finish and a trip to victory lane.
- Joey Logano- JoLo has yet to win here at Dover, but he does have nine top 10's in his 14 career starts here. However, in his last eight he has seven top 10's so if JJ got out of the way he might finally notch a win.
The Middle
- Kyle Larson- Dover has actually been one of Kyle Larson's best tracks early in his career. He has four starts here which fielded results of 11th, 6th, 3rd, and 9th. It's a small sample size but he has a driver rating of 98.0 so far.
The Bad
- Austin Dillon- Just the opposite of 2014 rookie Kyle Larson, Dover hasn't been one of Dillon's better tracks. In five starts he only has one top 20 (20th). Worse yet, he hasn't run more then 43% of a race in the top 15.
- Kasey Kahne- Last year he did notch two top 10's in two trips, but his career at Dover hasn't been as good. In 24 career starts he only has seven top 10's and two top 5's.
- Denny Hamlin- Even though Denny has three Pole awards here, the qualifying results haven't transferred to race success. In 20 career starts he only has six top 10's and three top 5 finishes to go along with an average finish of 19.2.
